Our house
One house. A thousand roads.
A journal of the house, told with what Bidea itself has published and what its own photos show: a Basque name, a Filandia street corner and people who come from far away.

A name that is a path
Bidea means “The Path” in Basque. You’re probably travelling the world, or planning to. That’s why we’re the right hostel for you.
We know what you’re looking for: somewhere different, but with the identity of the place. We want you to feel at home, and so we offer you the best of the wonderful coffee landscape in one place.

A corner house
Bidea fills a colonial corner house on Carrera 3 and Calle 7, two blocks from the main square. White, two storeys, with green windows and balconies and coloured panes. The house describes itself as “warm, colorful, colonial”.
Like many houses in central Filandia it belongs to the architecture of the Antioquian colonisation: thick walls, wide eaves and wood everywhere.
- The eave Wide and striped green and white: it keeps the Quindío rain off the bahareque walls.
- Balconies Small balconies on the upper floor. The house says many rooms have one.
- The flag Yellow, blue and red hanging from an upstairs window.
- Green windows Deep green frames with turquoise panes: the colour that runs through this whole site.
- Red panes Round the other side the panes turn red: the house has two faces.
- The skirting Along the bottom, a blue band of vertical boards — red on the other side.

Inside: bamboo, plants and light
Through the door comes the courtyard: bamboo beams, big plants, wooden tables and a lamp that comes on as night falls. It’s where breakfast happens, road clothes dry and maps get unfolded.
Around it, quiet lounges with well-worn armchairs, books to swap and a movie collection. And coffee, which the house serves all day long.

People in motion
Backpackers, couples, families and above all cyclists pass through: the touring bike leaning on the courtyard wall isn’t decoration. The house says so on its website — discount included.
A house for people who keep discovering: travellers who come from far away, stay one night longer than planned and leave with a new route written in their notebook.
“Este recorrido es uno de los más frecuentados por los ciclistas de la región, así que si están viajando en bicicleta seguro que les gustará mucho pasar por aquí y, además, ¡tendrán un descuento!”
“This route is one of the most popular with the region’s cyclists, so if you’re travelling by bike you’ll love passing through — and you’ll get a discount!” (our translation) V
Rooms with rooftops and mountains
Upstairs, green balcony doors open over the clay-tile rooftops, wooden floors shine and, from some windows, the blue cordillera fills the background.
There are shared dorms and private rooms, with and without their own bathroom. The house describes them as bright and spacious.

One for the album
In June 2023 the house introduced Mono on Instagram: a long-haired cat who posed on the courtyard tables, named — jokingly — its true owner. He’s part of Bidea’s story; whether he’s still around, the house will tell you.
Staying one more night?
