Filandia from above

A crown-shaped wooden tower, 27 metres tall, on the edge of town. From the top there are mountains in every direction.

On your own Ask how to get there
The lookout tower and its yellow steps.

The Mirador Colina Iluminada is the silhouette everybody photographs: a crown-shaped wooden structure with several viewing platforms on the outskirts of Filandia. From the top you can pick out neighbouring towns and, on clear days, the peaks of the cordillera.

No booking needed: you walk up from the centre. Go early, or late in the afternoon when the light drops over the hills. And don’t confuse it with the view from your room at Bidea — that’s a different one, just as good with morning coffee.

What to expect

  • Yellow steps and a multi-level wooden tower.
  • A 360° view over Quindío.
  • Kiosks around the lookout.

What to bring

  • A jacket: it’s windy at the top.
  • Patience if it’s cloudy: clouds tend to move fast.

Good to know

  • Climbing the tower may have a fee; check price and hours on site.
